Finance degree from University of Washington
MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, where I was a Sloan Fellow
Research projects in both undergraduate school and graduate school
- Undergraduate research project. Studied the massive growth in Collateralized Mortgage Obligations CMOs (later called CDOs), securitization and asset backed securities.
- Undergraduate research project. Wrote a computer program that implemented the “Black, Derman, Toy One Factor Model” for pricing call options on bonds. This is not simply an equation but rather and process that uses a binomial interest rate tree that is derived from (1) a treasury yield curve (2) a measure of interest rate volatility.
- MBA research project: How federal debt and entitlement obligations represent national security risks.
- MBA research project (and publication in Journal of Operational Risk Management): Lack of Effective Information Sharing, the most insidious Operational Risk
Two undergraduate summer internships at AMBAC Capital Management
Sat for and passed the CFA level 1 exam. Did not sit for 2nd or 3rd exam
